Kings Avenue Mall in Paphos - 5 million visitors in 2015!
Two years ago Kings Avenue Mall in Paphos opened its doors. The jury is still out regarding whether or not it was a sustainable idea that lay behind it, or if it simply was a prestige matter for Paphos to get this big project in place. Many also believed that a huge mall would be very harsh on the small local shops in the area; that customers would be gone and taken care of by the new giant and that a lot of charm in Paphos thus would disappear.
George Lazarou is the Marketing & Social Media Manager at Kings Avenue Mall. He says that the company employs over 1,000 people and that many of them had perhaps otherwise not so easily gotten a job in the difficult period Cyprus has been through in recent years. - In 2015, 5 million people visited "the Mall". It is an impressive number and well above what had been budgeted. It can readily be ascertained that the Kings Avenue Mall is a significant success that also attracts customers from a growing area, not only Paphos. Customers distributed evenly with 50% Cypriots and 50% foreigners.
Kings Avenue Mall is almost fully occupied. 95% of shop premises are leased and there are currently 123 shops, 12 restaurants and a car wash in the basement.
Apart from the content, shops of all kinds and at different price levels, the packaging is very chic. The building's design and decor keeps an international standard and is an attraction and landmark for Paphos town. The location is superb and when the ongoing roadworks outside the Kings Avenue Mall have been completed during 2016, the project will undoubtedly emerge as a major attraction. A visit to Kings Avenue Mall is an experience in itself and a lot more than just "going shopping."
